About videlyzo

A Taunton production resource built around the crew

videlyzo

Since 2014 we have helped producers and organisers run television programmes and live events with clear pictures, clean sound and dependable workflows.

Our story

How a small Taunton team became a production resource

videlyzo started in 2014 with a simple idea: producers need someone who understands cameras, lighting, audio and signal flow as one system. We work from Hammet Street Yard in Taunton, and the work has stayed close to that original idea.

The company was founded in 2014 by people who had spent years in studios and on live productions and had seen the same problems repeat. Cameras that did not match, lighting that fought the set, audio plans written after the rest was fixed. We wanted to plan these things together, early, and with the crew in the room.

Over the years the work has settled into a few areas: studio camera systems, lighting design, audio engineering, live event production, workflow and signal routing, and studio portrait sessions. They overlap constantly, which is why one team handles them rather than several separate suppliers who rarely speak.

Helen Marsh, our Head of Production, leads planning on every project and has directed studio and live productions for over fifteen years. She is joined by Daniel Whitcombe on lighting, Priya Nair on audio and Tom Eastley on cameras and workflow. Each brings a specialism, and each reviews the others' plans.

We prefer a calm production to a heroic one. That means plans written down, systems tested before rehearsal and crews who know what they are operating. When a show goes out smoothly, the audience notices the programme and not the technology, and that is the measure we use.

We still work in the same unhurried way we began with. A conversation first, a written plan second, and equipment only when the plan calls for it. Clients tend to return because the process is predictable, not because it is dramatic.

Principles

What guides the work on every production

Broadcast production leaves little room for guesswork. A crew relies on the plan, and a plan relies on the people who wrote it. These principles shape how we brief, build and support a show, from the first call to the last transmission.

  1. Clarity

Clarity runs through the picture, the sound and the paperwork. We draw plans a crew can follow, label cables and cues plainly, and explain choices in ordinary language. If a decision affects the look of the show, you will see it described before it is made, and any trade-offs are stated openly.

  2. Reliability

Reliability means testing before it matters. We check equipment in setup, rehearse the run of show and prepare for the failures that tend to happen, such as a dropped input or a late presenter. Crews can depend on us to arrive prepared, stay through transmission and keep the system understandable under pressure.

  3. Craft

Craft shows in the details that rarely get noticed: matched cameras, lighting that flatters a presenter without glare, microphones placed to avoid spill. Each specialist on the team has years of practice and reviews the others' work, so the finished system is considered as a whole rather than assembled from parts.

Background

The kind of work we take on and how we run it

We are a small team, and that shapes the projects we accept. We would rather plan a few productions properly than spread thinly, and we tell clients early if something falls outside what we can do well.

Who we work with

Our clients are producers, directors and event organisers who need dependable technical support. They range from teams making regular presenter-led programmes to organisers staging a single conference or concert. Some have their own equipment and crews, while others need us to coordinate more of the picture. What they share is a wish for fewer surprises on the day and a plan everyone understands.

How we plan

Plans begin with the format and the venue, not a list of kit. We look at where the cameras can go, how the set will be lit, where the microphones sit and how signals travel between them. Each plan is reviewed by the specialists involved, so a lighting choice is checked against camera exposure and audio placement before anything is installed.

What we leave behind

After a project we aim to leave your crew more capable than we found them. That means notes on how the system was set up, training where it is wanted and a short review of what worked. Tom in particular spends time teaching crews to run camera and routing systems confidently, so the show does not depend on us being present.

Client feedback

What producers say about working with us

The planning was the difference. Lighting, cameras and audio had been thought through together, so rehearsal was spent refining the show instead of fixing problems. Our crew understood the system by transmission day, and the broadcast ran without drama.

Rachel EllisonProducer, regional television programme
  • Clear plans, plain explanations and a calm presence on the day. Our conference went out live without a hitch, and the crew knew exactly what to do.

Martin Corrigan · Event organiser, Somerset
  • The audio work was exceptional in its quiet way. Speech stayed clean through every session, and nobody had to ask us to repeat anything.

Fiona Barrett · Director, studio talk series
  • We had cameras that never quite matched. After the tuning session our pictures looked consistent, and we finally understood why.

Callum Reeve · Head of content, production company
